Middlebury College Graduation Celebration!
Beakthrough students Daniel and Jasmin graduated from Middlebury College this spring! After hearing of these students’ success, former Breakthrough staff members Tommy, Brian and Jennifer flew in from New Jersey, Boston and Austin respectively, to celebrate this exciting occasion.
Jasmin who received her bachelor’s degree in psychology, said "It was so nice to have my Breakthrough family celebrating there with me, especially considering many of them had traveled so far for the event! They played a really important role in helping me get to and through Middlebury so it was great seeing everything come full circle with them at graduation.”
We are truly proud of the bonds our staff and students make over the course of program and are even prouder of our graduates. Congratulations Daniel and Jasmin!

Middle School Summer Program
The Breakthrough Austin middle school Summer Program began June 24th! Breakthrough’s intensive Summer Program provides students who are most at risk for summer learning loss with the academic preparation, information and opportunities they need to be successful by the time they reach high school. This year we’re excited to have 80 new AmeriCorps members from colleges and high schools around the country join us.
Daniella, a returning Breakthrough teacher from Rice University, is especially excited about teaching this summer:
"I’m most looking forward to reconnecting with the students that I taught last year while building new relationships this summer. I absolutely adore working with the BT students and am always amazed by their drive and dedication. Nothing motivates me quite as much as witnessing these students realize their dreams of a college education.”
We are always happy to take you on a tour to one of our summer program sites – please reply for more information.

10th Grade Leadership Institute Wraps Up!
Our 10th Grade Leadership Institute wrapped up last Friday! The rising 10th graders spent two weeks learning from successful professionals building their confidence, communication and self-advocacy skills. Additionally, they put their teambuilding and problem-solving to the test as they spent an afternoon on Town Lake creating and racing rafts.
At the end of the institute, our 10th grade students demonstrated what they had learned by being interviewed by two community leaders. This provided them a unique opportunity to interact with a professional and receive feedback on what they have learned.
A huge thank you to our volunteers and students for all of their hard work!
