This is a must-attend workshop for the teacher new to teaching or just new to the world of the independent school. In addition to the educational component, there is also an experiential one -- each participant presents a videotaped lesson that is critiqued by peers and the experienced faculty. Past participants have rated this as one of their best learning and growing experiences.

Practical, Hands-On Teaching Seminar

This is a must-attend workshop for the teacher new to teaching or just new to the world of the independent school. In addition to the educational component, there is also an experiential one -- each participant presents a videotaped lesson that is critiqued by peers and the experienced faculty. CURRICULUM

The SAIS Institute for New Teachers covers many topics related to teaching in an independent school environment, including-The culture & politics of the independent school 
-The school's mission: what does it mean?
-Evaluation / Grading
-Classroom management 
-Individualized teaching of students 
-Case studies 
-Introduction to legal issues 
-Videotaped lessons critiqued by an experienced staff and peers


 

 


DATE & LOCATION
This event will take place on July 29-31, 2013 at the SAIS office in Atlanta, GA.Lodging: Rooms are available at the nearby Fairfield Inn. Room reservation is available online (click here) or at (770) 350-0000.

REGISTRATION

SAIS Members: $895

Non-Members: $995

-Registration fee includes breakfast & lunch

-Late Registration fee (after June 29): + $100

-SINGLE REGISTRATION - for registering one person

-GROUP REGISTRATION - for a school sending multiple teachers

REGISTRATION - STEP #1
Click the appropriate REGISTRATION button:  
For an individual registration, select the SINGLE REGISTRATION option.  For a school sending multiple teachers, select the GROUP REGISTRATION option.

REGISTRATION - STEP #2
A short bio form will be sent to all participants and must be completed online within 5 days.

REGISTRATION - STEP #3
A current PHOTO must be submitted to Emily Glass at emilyglass@sais.org for each participant.  This may be done by the school or the individual.  Registration will not be considered complete until the bio form and photo are received.

THE FINE PRINT
Cancellation Policy
The cancellation deadline for this event is June 29, 2013.  Cancellations received in writing to emilyglass@sais.org before that date received a refund, less a $150 processing fee.  Cancellations received after that date are not eligible for a refund.

Media Release
Registration, attendance at, or participation in SAIS meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to SAIS’s use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videos, electronic reproductions, and audio of such events and activities.
